Pre Wedding - Test pre-marital HIV

Test pre-marital HIV screening can be done in any clinic in Malaysia and performed for free. The main purpose of this test is to enable individuals to know their HIV status, especially among at risk either infected with HIV or otherwise and take appropriate action to prevent further transmission of the disease to others. Any individuals who have been infected will be given health education, counseling, treatment and others to ensure that their health is being maintained.



HIV SCREENING EXERCISE TESTING PROCEDURES IN GOVERNMENT HEALTH CLINIC.

Prospective bride must register at the registration counter and complete the application form test pre-marital HIV screening can be obtained at the health clinic.
HIV screening rapid test method (Rapid test) will be performed by clinic staff
HIV screening test results with rapid testing method (Rapid test) may be known in the next 5 to 20 minutes (depending on the type of kit used). HIV screening test results will be communicated to the prospective bride.

For HIV screening test results (Rapid test) non reactive:
Couples will be informed of the decision.

Brides do not have to go through counseling available except for those at risk for HIV infection.
For brides who are at risk should he be counseled and given an appointment for a repeat of HIV screening in health clinic within 3 to 6 months.

For HIV screening test results (Rapid test) Reactive:
Couples will be given counseling and confirmatory tests (confirmatory test) will be done by taking 5 ml of blood. HIV confirmation test results will usually take about 2 weeks. Thus brides will be given an appointment to come back to the clinic, within 2 to 3 weeks later to take the decision and undergo counseling.

Verification test results and counseling will be provided to the prospective bride.
The test results are either prospective bride tested HIV positive (infected) or negative.
