Young Doctors Club
BACKGROUND OF YOUNG DOCTOR
Doctor Young was the school year 4, 5 and 6 are selected and trained as a Peer Mentor, who acted as a catalyst for change in knowledge, attitude and practice of positive health among school students.
Young doctors are given basic training on health to prepare them to become peer educators. They act as role models, promoters and health motivator friends at school.
Therefore, the selection of a suitable candidate as a young doctor is important. Typically, students who are interested, healthy, smart, attractive berpersonaliti, have leadership qualities, responsibility, influence, helpful and excellent academic criteria in the selection of a Young Doctor.
HISTORY
Young Doctor Program was implemented in 1989 at the National School Sri Biram, Pekan, Pahang. From here on, the program has grown from year to year with the increasing number of schools are doing.
The program is then based in Kelantan when the National School Tanah Merah 1 began implementing in 1991.
In 2000 the Health Education Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia has made the Young Doctor Program as one led health promotion program at the national level. Planning, coordination and implementation of this program throughout the country was undertaken jointly with the School Division, Ministry of Education Malaysia.
Up until 2004, only the states of Pahang, Kelantan, Terengganu, Malacca, Kedah and Selangor young doctor program in primary schools. A total of 347 primary schools in the respective states involved young doctor program.
However, starting in 2006, all states including the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur has implemented programs to involve young doctor of 735 schools.
In May 2006, the Ministry of Education Malaysia has made the Doctor degree as one co-curricular activities in primary schools and club known as the Young Doctor.
Young Doctor acceptance as extra-curricular activities is a recognition Ministry of Education Malaysia to the program, which is already proven the benefits and advantages to students.
In December 2007, a total of 826 schools have implemented programs with the involvement of Doctor Degree Doctorate Degree 21.907 people.
FOUNDER
Implementation of the Doctor Degree in health promotion activities in primary schools is the brainchild of Mr. Ahmad bin Haji Abdul Jabar, Director of Health Education Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia.
In 1989, the current position of Health Education Officer (Research and Development) in the State Health Department, he introduced Doctor Degree in School Series Biram, Pekan, Pahang.
This program is further expanded into primary schools across the state of Kelantan when he was transferred to the State Health Department to the position of Health Education Officer (Services) in 1989 to 1994.
Young Doctor appears to bring many benefits to students and schools. Hence this program over the years has grown throughout the country. In May 2006, the Ministry of Education Malaysia has accepted this program as an extra-curricular activities in primary schools and club known as the Young Doctor.
Adhere to the principle that good health habits formed in childhood is easier than changing poor health habits in adulthood, Tuan Haji Abdul Jabar always contribute ideas to ensure that this program was successfully implemented in primary schools.
For the contributions and commitment to the Doctor degree, Mr. Ahmad bin Haji Abdul Jabar was awarded Doctor Degree Driving Award at National Convention Doctor Second Degree in 2006.
OBJECTIVES
To form healthy habits among primary school pupils with basic knowledge and skills improve their health so that they can:
Adopt a healthy lifestyle
Mentor and inspire their peers and family members to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Help health care providers and schools in carrying out health activities in schools.
Encourage parents or guardians to give proper attention to children's health.
Strengthen the involvement of teachers and other school staff in efforts to improve student health.
Enhance cooperation between the Department of Health with the Education Department in promoting good health practices among primary school pupils.
ACTIVITIES YOUNG DOCTOR
Deliver health information to peers.
Guiding towards a healthy lifestyle.
Help create a school environment that is clean, healthy and safe.
Assist members of the school health and school health services activities.
Notification of disease / health problem.
Treat minor injuries.

BENEFIT PERFORMANCE CLUB YOUNG DOCTOR

Improved school image
Health Promotion Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia and the School Division, Ministry of Education Malaysia has issued a training module as a reference for the Advisory Teacher Club to implement the Young Doctor. Latest training modules produced is Young Doctors Club Training Modules for Primary Schools (third edition, 2008).
