"Get advice from an optometrist when the need for eye care," advises Khairunisah Young, an optometrist from the Tower of Optometry.

Lens quality

Optometrist, Amir Husain Rahman Shariff, who is also Director of Optometry Tower said lens for cheap sunglasses is lined with dark colors.

"It's not safe. You can not see the sun even when using glasses like this.

"Ask yourself, why use these sunglasses? Is just to protect themselves from UV light rays?.

"Exposure to excessive UV rays will form a cataract, and in high amounts, it can damage the cornea, lens and film inner retina," he explained.

Contact lenses

Previously, glasses used to help those who are visually impaired vision, particularly among young people.

Spectacle wearer begins to give priority to spectacle frames due to the latest taste.

Then came the generation of contact lenses in which adolescents are more interested in contact lenses with color.

"We want the contact lens wearer first test, to check whether their eyes for a particular lens. Optometrist will advise them to do," said Khairunisah stressing if not careful, users can injure eyes contact lenses.

Optometrists advise consumers more cautious when buying contact lenses because there are some procedures to be followed. "Eye contact lens users can not be dried because the tears can relieve discomfort when wearing contact lenses.
